How to become a
Christian
|
Why am I discussing something so personal with you? Because I care
where you spend eternity. The Bible says everyone sins and that
without forgiveness for sin we will perish. The penalty for sin is
death. For
all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, Romans 3:23 (NIV)
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life
in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23 (NIV)

Jesus paid the penalty for sin with His death, burial and
resurrection. One can be saved by excepting the gift of eternal
life.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John
3:16 (NIV) For it is by grace you have been saved, through
faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--
Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

Just believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins that you
might have eternal life. Express repentance for those sins and you
can be saved.
Whoever
believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe
stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of
God's one and only Son. John 3:18 (NIV) I tell you, no! But unless
you repent, you too will all perish. Luke 13:3 (NIV)

Your next step should be to want to share what you just accomplished
with a Christian friend or relative. They should be able to share
with you the need for baptism and discipleship.
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in
your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For
it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is
with your mouth that you confess and are saved. Romans 10:9-10 (NIV)

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer
your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is
your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the
pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will
is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1-2 (NIV) |
